This 1995 drama and fantasy film tells the story of a teenager with albinism who was recently released from the basement in which he grew up. He harnesses strange powers and is able to do incredible things, which only frightens his fellow classmates and puts people off. This movie definitely has many science-fiction elements with an emotional background in order to get people to care about the main character while also being impressed by the visuals and the story telling. I did find some scenes within this film to be awkward and unnecessary, while others were a little bit too out there. Nonetheless, I would rate this film 3/5 stars. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Well done, nicely sentimental fish-out-of-water tale. Some particularly moving moments, especially with Lance Henriksen's character. Exceptional music score by Jerry Goldsmith (the theme of which was later made into a song by Sarah Brightman: 'NO ONE LIKE YOU'). Also a sci-fi element with some very neat visual effects. The usual (minor harsh) language throughout, and very brief (non-sexual) nudity. Overall fine for all but the very youngest kids.

It does show some of the side of humans that we should all wish could be controlled if not extinguished. A good moral a nd well acted.
