Tired of hearing obviously overly simplified and often biased summaries of the history of Islam? Search no further! I started this book knowing next to nothing about the subject and now feel that I have a firm basis for further reading on Islam. Well organized, and exhaustively researched. Although some of the vocabulary may be foreign for lay reader (such as myself), technical terms are often understandable in context or easily researched.
Kungs' goal with this, along with his other titles researching Christianity and Judaism, is to provide a framework for civil discussion between the three Abrahamic religions by identifying the similarities and differences of the three while avoiding judgements. The book also includes questions for the reader/group to spur these discussions.
Rather than trusting those that would tell that Islam is 100% a religion of peace, or of violence, read the whole story and decide for yourself.
