Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson save the world from the supernatural in "Ghostbusters", one of the greatest horror-comedies and most quotable movies ever made.

Add a QuoteJanine Melnitz: "Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster and the theory of Atlantis?"
Winston Zedimore: "Ah, if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say."
Peter Venkman: "Ray's gone bye bye, Egon. What have you got?"
Egon Spangler: "I'm sorry, Venkman. I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought."
Dana Barrett: [sarcastically] Oh, good, that makes me feel so much better.
Dana Barrett: Well that's just great. Either I have a monster in my kitchen or I'm completely crazy.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Well, I... I think so, but I'm sure there are no animals in there.
Dana Barrett: Look, this wasn't here! There was *nothing* here! There was this... space! And there was a building or something with flames coming out of it, and there were creatures writhing around, and they were growling and snarling. And there were flames, and I heard a voice say "Zuul"! It was right here.

Summary
Add a SummaryAfter losing their academic positions at Columbia University, a trio of misfit parapsychologists — Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Raymond Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) – establish a paranormal exterminator service known as "Ghostbusters" at a retired New York City firehouse. While still facing dire straits after setting up the company, they are summoned by the Sedgewick Hotel to investigate a haunting. At the hotel, they capture their first ghost and deposit it in a "containment unit" located in the basement of their office. Paranormal activity soon increases in New York City, and the Ghostbusters become celebrities containing it, while at the same time becoming increasingly burdened by the hectic schedule. To satisfy increased demand, they hire a fourth member, Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson).

Add a Commenti've seen this movie since i was only 6 years old. truly an 80's classic you won't see an 2016 reboot on your dvd self but instead you might get to see the 1980's movie version with the original cast. it will be great.
The absolute classic 1984 funny ghost comedy. The gold standard of the series. Rated PG13. 5 snaps!
👻 Sigourney Weaver discovers an ancient god in her refrigerator. The Busters are spiritual PIs who lock up ghosts at their facility, but a meddling bureaucrat lets them all go at once. Now NYC is faced with a surge of ghosts. This is a lot like the virus surge now, also the fault of bureaucrats. The effects are nothing short of brilliant, and if someone asks you if you're a god, you say YES!
A little known fact about Dan Ackroyd? He comes from a long line of spiritualists. His grandfather was a world renowned psychic medium. Dan grew up in a haunted house, and still owns it today!
A brilliant, classic comedy with interesting characters. Well acted and full of some of the best movie quotes of all time. Some special effects are a bit dated at this point, but we've come a long way! One of my fave movies of all time.
This is a great comedy flick with a handful of those 80’s actors we all love so dearly.
The reason it’s getting a lower rating from me is because I disagree with the PG rating; it was NOT appropriate for my 5 year old. I guess as a kid I remember the “edited for TV version” ‘cause there were some parts that were well above what I’d call suitable for the younger members of the family. Some parts were even a little too frightening for her.
The 'original ghostbusters' bring comedy to the big screen as they strive to protect New Yorkers from ghoulish baddies.
Despite its flaws, I feel real affection for the original Ghostbusters. How could you not? It's goofy, funny, homey - it's genuine comfort food.
The classic paranormal comedy. Let's hope Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a worthy successor to his father's great work, so we can finally forget that disastrous reboot from 2016.
I did not see this as a child. I have no nostalgia for it. Yet I think it's the perfect movie.
