DEAR NCPARRISH: I guess if your father IS a stock broker and you (as you apparently do) sit smugly at the top of the `food chain`, then this is a pretty dumb story about an `uppity darkie`. But if you don`t wipe your behind with hundred dollar bills after a bowel movement and you know what it`s like to be scared every moment of your life struggling from week to week to keep a roof over your head, this is a story of perseverance and a miracle - and of a man determine, no matter what, to break the cycle of children without a father: something lacking in a lot of fancy houses in high-end neighborhoods where ` de white folk play`.

Amazing performance by Will smith. Not a lot of movies make me cry, but this one did.

Beyond inspiring. A must-see for anyone to learn the power of perseverance.

A very inspirational movie based on a true story about a salesman named Chris Gardner. He has difficulty making money with the bone density scanners he is trying to sell which he spent his life savings on. Struggling to make the money, Chris finds himself losing his wife and being evicted from his San Francisco apartment along with his 5 year old son Christopher. When Chris gets an internship at a brokerage firm to become a stockbroker, he and his son face adversity and many hardships in pursuit of getting a better life for the both of them. Will and Jaden Smith did a phenomenal job in bringing this true story to life. It is filled with many emotional moments that will make you think about the greatness of life. I greatly enjoyed this movie. 4/5 Stars. - @ReadingThruThe6 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

I love this movie. Very motivating. Appropriate for mature audiences only though because of the "F" word and lots of yelling and screaming at children and spouses. You don't want your kids to treat their kids or spouses as portrayed in this film.

Love Love Love the movie.

Pretty dumb. About a guy whose "dream" it is to become a stockbroker, of all things. But first he makes a living selling overpriced, unnecessary medical equipment. Finds Jesus, prays, etc. $$$ Will Smith has no skill. Standard garbage, "based" on a "true" story.

Christopher Gardner: [narrating, at a payphone, raining, after learning Linda is taking Christopher away from him] It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that?
