A gem. This album has a quiet feel to it, like walking on holy ground, almost. Jaci Velasquez (who was also in the great movie "The Encounter") begins with "O Come, O Come Emmanuel," followed Point of Grace's "For Unto Us," then Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven," (which she co-wrote). Next is "Labor of Love" by Jill Phillips, "Mary Did You Know?" sung by Kenny Rogers and Wynonna, "The First Noel" sung by Mark Schultz, "O Holy Night" by LeAnn Rimes--and others, 13 in all.The music is warm and mysterious, and lovely and reverent and beautiful and--sweet. This is a great album for quiet reflection. Christmas is often a stressful time of year. This collection of the best songs from a variety of artists is very "centering"--good for taking a pause to reflect on the coming of Christ ... it can be very hard to get ahold of that in the midst of the flurry of activity and expectations and pressures. This album is like taking a vacation from all that frantic activity. There is some beautiful music here, too good to save only for Christmas. Best Christmas album I've found in 2011. One of the very best albums of any type I've found all year. Powerful.

Inspired by "The Nativity Story" movie (DVD), this is a collection of songs by a variety of artists: Amy Grant, Kenny Rogers, Mark Schultz, Jill Phillips and others. Was made by taking one song from each of their albums. The final song, "The Nativity Lullaby," a number of artists did in collaboration with each other (Mike Weaver of Big Daddy Weave, Natalie Grant, Todd Smith & Allan Hall of Selah, Michael Farren of Pocket Full of Rocks, David Phelps and Point of Grace). Not a movie soundtrack, this is a Chrismas Holiday CD worth listening to any time of year. Thoughtful, beautiful, worshipful, warm, reflective: Lovely.
