Me and A Guy Named Elvis

My Lifelong Friendship With Elvis Presley

After meeting Elvis in 1954, Schilling and 'The King' became fast friends, even as Elvis turned into the world's greatest star. In 1964 Elvis invited Jerry to work for him as part of his 'Memphis Mafia' and soon he found himself living with Elvis full-time at Graceland. Over the next 13 years, Jerry worked for Elvis in numerous capacities, but more than anything else he was Elvis' close friend and confidante. Me and a Guy Named Elvis looks at Presley's life from a friend's perspective offering a view of the man rather than the more common view as icon.

Excellent, very well written with insights not mentioned before in any other book. Nice to see someone write about the positive side of Elvis and not the negative, Jerry is a true friend to Elvis not trying to make a dollar off his name.

There are very helpful anecdotes that explain the many puzzles of Elvis' career and family life. The book starts slowly but builds the reader's interest and sustain it throughout.
