This reads like a long-drawn-out True High School Confession. I don't think that the author moved much beyond the level of a high-school sophomore, in terms of critical thinking. And yet he was a national champion debater!! Daveed was a lonely kid in a rich man's private college (Wake Forest U) in the USA. His secular Jewish hippy parents had not prepared him well for the angst of being away from home. He drifts into Islam, heavily influenced by Kenyan friend. He then drifts into a Saudi-Arabian funded "cultural centre" (really a front for financing terrorism), and, gullible and naïf and easily influenced by anyone more cocksure than he was (it would not take much) inexorably becomes a quietly fanatic, radical Muslim. Then, he goes to NYC to study law, and drifts OUT of Islam, only to become a not-too radical Christian. He claims to be an "expert consultant" with the FBI on the topic of radical Islam. Let us hope that the FBI can get something solid out of this man, who is like a tabula rasa, just waiting for someone, anyone, to write their instructions all over him.
