The gorgeous, Caldecott Honor-winning tale of a very clever fish by beloved picture book creator Leo Lionni.

Deep in the sea lives a happy school of fish. Their watery world is full of wonders, but there is also danger, and the little fish are afraid to come out of hiding . . . until Swimmy comes along. Swimmy shows his friends how--with ingenuity and team work--they can overcome any danger.

What a great story about courage and clever thinking, and not being afraid to lead! Plus the illustrations are amazing!

Swimmy is a smart fish who bravely faces life's challenges. Good role model for independent thinkers. Good example of our 6 by 6 skill "Talk, Talk, Talk." Children hear more new words when you read books – about three times more than in normal conversation. When you come to words your child isn’t familiar with, don’t substitute with an easier word. Practice saying "sea anemone" with your little ones, but get ready for giggles galore.

Lovely story and moral.
Pictures and textures for the illustrations make it even more stand out.
Definantly worth reading to children.

Wonderful story! Love the illustrations. Great for story time. Add a collage or finger painting craft for extra fun as winter comes to a close. Or maybe some nice ocean or beach books.

A beautiful, mesmerizing read-aloud for storytime. This book will settle down a roomful of kids, from preschool age to fourth graders. With older kids, point out the delicate watercolors and pair it with a painting activity.
