This book contains pictures of a father physically abusing his son, and then the son beating up other kids at school. Can't believe this is in the children's section as a picture book. Fortunately it went right over her heard but in the future I will be much more careful about checking books over before I check them out.

John had a rough childhood, but came out a winner with good morals. The message of this book is to be yourself, in a world that wants you to be somebody else.
This book discusses child abuse and racial discrimination in a very abrupt way. Parents may want to preview this book prior so giving it to children to read so that they can have a discussion together about these topics.
