An autocratic record executive, his neglected Russian mistress and his estranged son spend a few days staring at each other and biting their knuckles in this plodding overblown drama that attempts to say something meaningful about loneliness, alienation and the need to feel connected. After 60 minutes of blank looks and lifeless dialogue I started hitting the fast-forward button hoping there would eventually be some point to the tedium. Apparently there wasn’t. Poorly made and boring beyond words.

A quiet mature independent film in the spirit of Nashville" and "Paris, Texas". Those looking for car chases, gunfights and spectacular explosions will be disappointed, but those wishing for nuanced performances and subtle human drama will be rewarded. The ambient background noises and natural lighting reminded me of Robert Altman's work. Fans of Northern Exposure will probably be scratching their heads throughout the film wondering where they've seen one of the main characters before.
