Bloody, funny, gory homage to classic horror movies, especially of the B sort. James Gunn's debut feature is by a horror fan for horror fans, a tongue in cheek, over the top film about an alien invasion that turns the inhabitants of a small town into zombie-like monsters. Romero's "Dead" movies, Cronenberg's body horror, and Carpenter's "The Thing" are the most obvious influences. Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Rooker, and Jenna Fischer (who was married to Gunn at the time) head up a cast that is much better than you usually find in movies like these. Not for the weak-stomached. Gunn graduated to the big leagues last year with "Guardians of the Galaxy." Also check out "Super," "Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil," "Cabin in the Woods," and "Evil Dead 2."

When a meteorite crashes in the middle of hick town USA (Vancouver!!) it's carrying a most unusual passenger; a slimy barb-shooting slug with a voracious appetite for fresh meat and a frightening ability to control people's minds. Soon pets are disappearing, the town millionaire is sporting a couple of tentacles and the local tramp has been turned into a corpulent bug factory. Will the woefully inexperienced police chief and his band of bumbling deputies be able to destroy the outer space menace before it destroys us? James Gunn's loving homage to 80s horror flicks borrows heavily from the likes of "Alien", "Night Of The Living Dead" and "The Thing". His winning combination of amazing special effects and old-fashioned storytelling has produced a wonderful mix of chilling shocks, deadpan humour and enough spewing blood and mucus to satisfy the most ardent gorehounds. One of the better popcorn movies I've seen in some time.

WOW! Mega gross-out to the max!

Like "The Blob" on steroids, Slither (a guaranteed adrenaline-rush) delivered some of the most insanely wild, gut-churning, hair-raising monster-effects to ever splatter across any movie-screen that I've ever seen.

Talk about creepy! This was real horrorshow!

And I certainly enjoyed every electrifying rush that Slither sent slithering up and down my spine.

This was a funny-horror. The scare factor was low but it had a lot of comedy so there were no lulls.

Great B Horror movie, funny, and some surprisingly good acting. If you like the old B Horror movies of the 70's and 80's you'll absolutely fall in love with this gem of a gore fest.

Bill Pardy: [holds up a toy squid from his desk] What's this?
Trevor: I thought we could use that like a police sketch, Chief. You know, take it door to door, see if anybody recognizes it.
