I picked this up one day because I wanted a history adventure book without all the sex and this knocked it out of the park. I laughed, gasped, yelled and bawled my eyes out while I read this book. I quickly read the rest of the series but this by far was my favourite. I had to buy the series.

This is a great series of books! I love how the author incorporates science into the story, and how each character has a story of their own. Montmorency and the Assassins was by far my favourite.

I was drawn to this book out a perverse fascination with bad literature. I wanted to know if this would be the world's second-worst book, or would surpass its predecessor "Montmorency" for that particular notoriety.
The beginning was actually quite compelling: “Montmorency’s skeleton lay illuminated…. a few
inches from the floor.” I rejoiced, only to find on page 2 that it was only an x-ray. Montmorency lives. Life is not fair. The rest of the book was horrid. If Montmorency moved along like
a mutilated snail that will not die (see review for "Montmorency"), thenAssassins could be compared to that speck of foreign material you see in
your shower that refuses to be washed down the drain, and instead floats stubbornly on the surface of the soapy water. That summarizes Assassins, which was as monotonous and slightly less interesting as watching said speck. The most exciting part of the book was when “Dynamite” came on the radio while I was reading.
