I am new to Islam and with the current politics, decided to do a little "Islam 101" so to speak. This book was perfect for that. Great for older kids up to adults. I'll read anything by this DK series because the visuals are excellent, and there are a lot of them, so it keeps it interesting. Highly recommended.

Excellent overview of Islamic Society, the life of Muhammad, and other civilizations around this period. Not alot of indepth information about anything specific. More a general summary of everything but give with adequate facts for each topic. Excellent starter research for an overview.
