Excellent! KC has it, but the wait time is often long. The story of the Sanderingham Company, the Norfolk estate of British Crown, the farm laborers that formed the company in 1914. Originally it was referred to as the Vanished Battalion then later determined that the company perished during the fighting with the Turks. This is a point of historical contention & denial by the Turkish gov't - just as is the Armenian deaths of the WWI - see Sand Castle Girls by Chris Bohjalian.

The film was written by Nigel McCrery (New Tricks, Silent Witness & some books.) The cast is excellent; subtitles are suggested; filming in north Norfolk & Spain.

Presented as Masterpiece Theatre in US about 1999, the story has stayed with me for years. Because we are currently in remembrance of the First World War I am reviewing literature of the era. The remembrance is widely observed in Australia, New Zealand, Europe & Britain where every city & tiny village memorializes the sacrifice. The naivety of the ruling classes were ill prepared for the advancement of warfare & entered as if it was the Battle of Waterloo - totally unprepared. Destruction was catastrophic, an entire generation was killed.
