A story of a Pentecostal preacher from Texas, who asks for a way to see reason in calamity after his cheating wife has stolen his church from him and he has beaten up her lover---a young minister. Although Duvall wanted to get this movie made so long, the major studios turned him down . I can see why they did so because the story doesn't interest me.
So Duvall had to write, direct and star in this film, and round up the financing himself.
Well..., it simply seems like a peculiarly personal project.

There is so much to this film that if its story elements were developed it could have turned into a miniseries; its starts as a rich drama and becomes what is essentially a character study - the character is certainly interesting enough.

Great performance by Duvall.
A "feel good" movie.
