Despite having seen it earlier on Netflix, I watched it again, but this time on DVD and... it turned out it was a holiday classic retelling of Clement Moore's Twas the Night Before Christmas that is a must-see in November if you haven't already. The characters were unique, the setting looks so gorgeously "goffik", it makes you want to see the animation come to life in perfect detail with stop motion. At least, in behind the scenes, did you know it took more than five years to make? That takes a lot of hard work to produce!

This weird, warped, and wonderfully good-natured, holiday, fantasy film is a highly-imaginative tale that has "Halloweentown's" very own Pumpkin King, the ever-charming, Jack Skellington, taking on the task of redefining Christmas in order to spread joy to the world in his own macabre way.

As things inevitably turn out, Jack's well-meaning "Holiday Season" mission unwittingly puts good, old Saint Nick (aka. Sandy Claws) in serious jeopardy once that mean'n'nasty brute, Oogie Boogie, gets into the act.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is an extraordinarily entertaining tale that's filled-to-overflowing with the magic of song and the wonder of marvellous, first-rate visuals.

Constantly surprising - This film is truly a devilishly delicious treat that can be enjoyed by all ages, any old time of the year...... (*Watch video-clip*)

*Note* - I don't know about you, but, I, for one, sure wish that Tim Burton's name hadn't been so prominently attached to this particular picture..... Yeah. OK. Burton did, indeed, write the original story, but, hey, it was Henry Selick, not Burton, who so brilliantly directed this delightfully eerie classic.

Sign me up! It's not like we celebrate one holiday at a time anymore anyways. I love Tim Burton films probably because of my love for this movie :)

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” takes place in Halloweentown, a unique place whose eerie citizens live for Halloween. Their resident celebrity is Jack Skellington, who finds himself beginning to fail to love Halloween as he used to. After falling through a portal to Christmastown, Jack decides that he will give Christmas’s Sandy Claws a break, and that Jack will take over the man-in-red’s job. Despite his friend Sally’s urging, Jack decides to carry through with his plan, and naturally, hilarious calamity ensues.

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” is an adorable movie that is perfect to watch on both Halloween and Christmas. It can be described with many genres: fantasy, horror, holiday, and as a comedy, and even considered a musical. The characters all have Tim Burton’s lovable and creepy style to them, and carry the story well. The soundtrack is both scary and silly, with many songs having become both Halloween and Christmas staples. The plot is well-thought out, unique, and is a nice change from both typical horror movies and Christmas movies. The setting of various holiday-themed towns is interesting, and only adds to the story, helping to give it a fantastical and far-away feel.

Overall, the author of this review highly recommends “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. It is a sweet, lovable, and scary movie that will keep audiences captivated. This film is a perfect watch for anyone who doesn’t enjoy the stereotypical horror movies of Halloween or family movies of Christmas. The author of this review also believes the movie to be suitable for ages eleven and up due to some scary scenes and character designs.

With the thrills and chills of Halloween just around the corner, I certainly can't think of a much better (or more enjoyable) animated, feature film to get one into the spooky spirit of it all, other than The Nightmare Before Christmas.....
