Too much time spent rehashing pre- Mamma Mia timeline. It would have been more successful creating a new life challenge to sing about. This was like a Mamma Mia reunion with year book insight.

Plotting and music not up to the original. Does not have the happy easy going of first film. Unfortunately disappointing.

I loved the original movie so I was excited to see the sequel. I wish it could have lived up to the hype. My husband walked out pretty early one, but my mother-in-law and I stuck it out about a third of the way through before we decided it wasn't worth watching. It was too silly, a bit confusing, and mostly unnecessary. If you want to see it, check it out from the library so you don't have to invest any money into it. You may end up loving it, but it wasn't for me.

Minimal storyline, but great cast with a lot of witty banter and great chemistry. Quite funny. Watching all the special features after the show was well worth it.

A feel good musical, fun to watch.

This is such a silly piece of fluff - and yet I enjoyed every ridiculous moment of it! The story barely makes any sense. Large groups of people are singing and dancing in unison for absolutely no reason other than the fact that they are IN A MUSICAL AND THAT'S HOW THINGS ARE DONE. Other than the fact that Lily James is beautiful, it really isn't very good at all... until Cher shows up and makes it all worth while. Mamma mia!

The popular musical comedy Mamma Mia returns for a sequel ten years later telling the story of a young past Donna to present day Sophie both at crossroads in their lives but aided by friendships and song.

a piffle with underwhelming versions of mostly mediocre Abba until Cher picks the whole thing up in the last quarter of the movie - Meryl Streep's cameo is for billing purposes only - but the venture is nevertheless a fairy tale, a fantasy, a musical with enough colour, delightful sets, locations to make the entire thing worth it, a complete entertainment, see it

Only issue with this film was Cher ludicrously cast. Her character on top of it wasn’t at all needed and was a distraction to a solid sequel, besides that peeve the younger versions of the main characters were brilliantly cast and the back story was charming. Best strength of this movie (as was the same for the first film) is that it crosses generations. It appeals to those nostalgic for music they first heard in the 70’s and for those born in this century. Best thing I saw was a woman with her granddaughter at the theater and the younger one putting down her phone at the start of the film and knowing all the songs and helping her grandmother out after the film was over, before starting to text again. All in all a good movie.
