Superb documentary . . . with a gratifying conclusion.

I wish I could say I had been shocked by this documentary, but it all seems depressingly familiar at this point. The story of the dogged local journalist fighting for the truth, though, is really inspiring, and a strong argument for supporting local investigative journalism.

An eye-opening MUST SEE for EVERYONE of, and near, voting age! Gives you the background on what the meaning and repercussions of Citizens United and other campaign finance issues are about. Mainly centers on what happened in Wyoming and Wisconsin, but applicable to literally everywhere. One of the most important pieces of information is the website: www.FollowTheMoney.org . This organization compiles the donor money info from all 50 states. It's raw data, but if you want to know who is behind the "Dark Money" social non-profit organizations donating money to candidates, this is where you can find the info you need to track down
who the money is going to and which larger organization, or corporation it came from. And that will tell you what the candidate's true agenda is and who "owns" them. If nothing else, this documentary should get you asking questions about what the heck is going on with our elections and why. We found it downright scary.

A must see.

We learn how billionaires like the Koch Brothers use their money to buy elections. We even get to see Don McGahn, Trump White House Counsel, along with two other Koch picks, completely stop the FEC from implementing reforms. And we see Scott Walker takes away workers union rights in Wisconsin. The good thing of this latest election is that Wisconsin put Walker out of office after eight years of union busting.

Having just voted in mid term elections.....I can think of some "winners" who are probably owned by dark money payments from the volumes of negative ad postcards which inundated our mail boxes. I thought we were supposed to elect "good" people who were hard workers, well-informed and made conscientious choices which were for the benefit of their constituents. Is that becoming a thing of the past ? Are Tulsa schools left in such bad shape to purposely promote a future voter base that can be easily manipulated ? The state of
a government by and for the people is being seriously challenged by the monied who want more. More money, more control, and that insidious heady power. And once they have it they want to protect it at all costs.

Good info

The "greatest threat to our democracy" (which the United States is not, since it's a representative republic) is not the evil corporations, which offer jobs and stock dividends, but rather the UNIONS which serve as a money laundering scheme for DEMOCRAT politicians.
