I fully expected to not like this movie, just considering it another reboot. Aside from the, ahem, more 'mature' audience, the movie isn't all that bad. Cleverly written and acted, though I'm not sold on the message of "living in someone else's shoes" when the lesson learned is "nerds suck, sexy/strong people rock". There's a clever reference to Alan Parrish, but don't think too hard about that one!

Bubblegum. Just a bit of fun. Solid enough movie if you're looking for something for the whole family.

I expected to loath this... Reboot I guess? But never could fully hate it. It was much more fun than I expected. Characterizations were fun. It was over the top with solid "video game" action. It just didn't have the heart of the Robin Williams original, but those were some big shoes to fill regardless. Overall, good. Not great.

I agree with the general consensus here. I went in expecting something painfully mindless, and I was pleasantly surprised by just how fun it turned out to be. I quite enjoyed it, and I even liked the kids themselves from the opening and closing scenes. I kept laughing out loud at the shrimpy nerd character being repeatedly dumbfounded by the Mr Universe physique of his avatar. For the most part it doesn't feel as high-stakes as the original, having a wacky fun tone, but --MILD SPOILER-- there was the surprisingly dark(ish) element of 2 of the heroes"killing" each other. Sorry guys, even if you each have 2 more lives, that ain't cool. But no one watching it will expect that to result in permanent death, so it's forgivable. - Note: the story is still of course quite straight-forward. My family saw it because with my sister on massive pain meds we didn't want to go to something complex or deep. :D

great movie, I laughed the whole way through.

This sequel of the original 1995 film unfortunately lacks the heart and great cast chemistry of its predecessor. With overly cartoonish villains and heroes that are difficult to root for the movie seems inclined to jump from one action scene to the next with little substance inbetween. It may serve as an introduction to the Jumanji brand for young viewers, but they should also be treated to the original film and the book that it was adapted from by Chris Van Allsburg.

A Pleasantly surprising, fun movie. A little draggy in parts but I enjoyed this far better than the original.

A modernized version of the 1995 Jumanji with fewer and less terrorizing animals on the loose. Characters chose their avatars and are pulled into the game. The contrary avatars are a delight fueling lots of the comic situations and humor. An adventure for sure; a coming of age movie; how we can change our characters and grow. Good fun. A good movie all around.

The problem is that while trying to craft something for your typical 13-year-old's enjoyment, the new Jumanji writing team dumbed things down, and sexed things up, a little too much... Add in a lot more foul language than you might expect in a movie built for the kids, and you've got a fantasy actioner that's much less, uh, fantastic than it could have been.

Many quotes in IMDb already including my favorites when too-pretty Bethany needed help to pee first time as Professor Shelly Oberon. Below are the few more serious quotes on choosing one’s life that are not in IMDb:

We don't have a lot of time in this life, and I personally don't wanna waste it on being, like, a gym teacher.
===
You're all here for a reason. You know what it is. But this is what you should be thinking about: Who you are... in this moment in time, and who you want to be. You get one life. You decide how you're gonna spend it.
===
It's a lot easier to be brave when you have lives to spare. It's a lot harder... when you only have one life.
-We-we always only have one life, man. Okay? That's... That's all we get. That's how it works.
The question is, is how are you gonna live it? Which guy are you gonna decide to be?… Did I just quote our principal?
