Back in 1968 when film-director, George Romero was just 28 years old he directed his very first zombie invasion film, titled "Night of the Living Dead" on a measly budget of just $114,000.

Back in 2005 when film-director, George Romero was 65 years old he directed his umpteenth zombie invasion film, titled "Land of the Dead" on an extravagant budget of $15 million.

I'll give you just one guess as to which of these 2 zombie films I view as being vastly superior to the other. (*Clue* - The more experience as a film-director of this genre Romero got the more incompetent he became)

Believe me - "Land of the Dead" was so utterly stale, predictable, and a complete no-brainer that Romero should have been forced into permanent retirement after this fiasco. But, unfortunately, he went on to direct 3 more friggin' zombie movies before his own death in 2017.

This science-fiction/thriller film is set in a world where the majority of the population is made up of zombies, with the few surviving humans living in a seperate and secluded area. Sadly, the area is heavily divided by class which causes major social issues in this post-apocalyptic world. A rebellion is in the works, but the zombies are learning how to evolve. This movie was quite the hit since it offered some original elements to the overdone zombie theme, and it had realistic laughs, intense gore, and a fairly well developed plot. I would rate this movie 4/5 stars and recommend it to those who like classic zombie movies. @The_Reviewer of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

George A. Romero's zombie movies have always been about people, not zombies. That's what makes them work so well and Land of the Dead is no exception.

Maybe this is a "time waster", but I enjoyed it. George Romero updated his movie series. Feels like it inspired the current zombie wave of the last decade , especially with The Walking Dead tv series.

Everytime I watch this film it's like I'm watching it for the first time. I can't seem to hold it to my memory. This was the last Drive-in movie I saw along with " War of the World's June of 2005. That Asia is so cute in this one.

Romero's zombies are restless yet again in this sequel of a sequel which delivers pretty much what we've come to expect; conflicted humans, hungry ghouls, and a whole lot of dripping entrails. This time around however the living dead are the decided winners, gaining not only the entire Earth ("let's go to Canada!" says one of mankind's last survivors) but a faint glimmer of intelligence behind those rotting eyes. Could this be the beginning of a Zombie Confederation? Sociopolitical allegory aside (yes, some insist Romero's series is a wry commentary on the Reagan years) this latter addition to the genre shows just how tired the subject has become...when shuffling, drooling, man-eating corpses begin to elicit feelings of sympathy and a sense of "preciousness" it's time to put that final bullet to the brain. Good effects though.

The worst of the Romero zombie flicks. Has a cool post apocalyptic vision, but fails in execution. Everything is just too silly. Feels like a bad John Carpenter movie. The effects aren't even up to snuff. They had a very good cast and decent budget and just whiffed in my opinion. Could possibly excel as a remake.
