The New York Times bestseller! More than two dozen psychiatrists and psychologists offer their consensus view that Trump's mental state presents a clear and present danger to our nation and individual well-being.

This is not normal.

Since the start of Donald Trump's presidential run, one question has quietly but urgently permeated the observations of concerned citizens: What is wrong with him? Constrained by the American Psychiatric Association's "Goldwater rule," which inhibits mental health professionals from diagnosing public figures they have not personally examined, many of those qualified to answer this question have shied away from discussing the issue at all. The public has thus been left to wonder whether he is mad, bad, or both.

In THE DANGEROUS CASE OF DONALD TRUMP, twenty-seven psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health experts argue that, in Mr. Trump's case, their moral and civic "duty to warn" America supersedes professional neutrality. They then explore Trump's symptoms and potentially relevant diagnoses to find a complex, if also dangerously mad, man.

Philip Zimbardo and Rosemary Sword, for instance, explain Trump's impulsivity in terms of "unbridled and extreme present hedonism." Craig Malkin writes on pathological narcissism and politics as a lethal mix. Gail Sheehy, on a lack of trust that exceeds paranoia. Lance Dodes, on sociopathy. Robert Jay Lifton, on the "malignant normality" that can set in everyday life if psychiatrists do not speak up.

His madness is catching, too. From the trauma people have experienced under the Trump administration to the cult-like characteristics of his followers, he has created unprecedented mental health consequences across our nation and beyond.

It's not all in our heads. It's in his.

"There will not be a book published this fall more urgent, important, or controversial than The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump ...profound, illuminating and discomforting" --Bill Moyers

I don't need to read this book to know the Orange Idiot is a moron. All you need to do is listen to him once to know he is a con man - but not even a very good one. That is why Dumpy said he loves the uneducated - they are the only ones who fall for his lies.

Personally, I think that this book is nothing but a hoax. (You are certainly welcome to think otherwise) To me - This is the sort of book that laughs (Ha! Ha! Ha!) right in the reader's face 'cause the reader so earnestly wants to believe that what's been written in these pages is being told on the level. But, it's not the case.

If these 27 so-called psychiatrists/mental health experts had actually met US prez, Donald Trump personally and diagnosed his mental state at that point - Then - Yes - I could accept what they are saying was sincere and holds some justifiable validity.

But these psychiatric clowns are only assessing the mental state of a persona manufactured for the public to see (like an actor) and not that of a real person. So, what they report here is all mere speculation and, in the long run, doesn't hold water. And, in this anti-Trump book they are, of course, saying exactly what people who detest this mega-monster want to hear.

Anyway - It's all up to you to read this strongly-biased book for yourself and then you can decide, once and for all, WTF's what.

Gosh this book is hard to read.
There's two reasons for that: #1 they use technical jargon and tend to waffle in a very academic way which is so dry to read, it'll practically make your eyes water.
#2 is because the implications are staggering, it can take time just to digest it all.
I think the reason they wrote it in such a precise and academic way is purely to cover themselves as much as possible against legal attack, which is something they really need to be concerned about...

Required reading as evidence mounts regarding #45's mental condition. Sobering, terrifying and spot on.

It has gotten to the point that the democrats are like the sore losers in a monopoly game, they will do or say anything to get what they want. I would vote for Trump everyday for the rest of my life over a crook and liar like Hilary or a socialist like Bernie.

Shameful hatchet job by mental health professionals who should have composed a more balanced analysis. For instance, the "flaws' they claim the president displays, can they be "virtues" in a politician or leader in an age of social media dominance? Does executive decision making require " close attention to details" or is judgment based on assessment of the experts' advice acceptable? Use of Twitter by a president , is this a personality disorder or a new way of political influence?

Mar 04, 2018

Brilliant analogy by intelligent psychologists who are willing to put their careers on the line to tell their side. If you only read the Prologue by Robert Jay Lifton and Epilogue by Noam Chomsky, you will have enough to keep you awake and aware.

Incredibly unprofessional piece of literary garbage! Partisan politics at it's worst!

Political chicanery at its best...or worst:-p While President Trump was not my first choice, the drivel put out the great crook and liar herself, HRC, gets echoed by some of the same elites against whom many people voted in the 2016 election. I would suggest that these "shrinks" may need to have themselves examined and question their motives for saying and writing what they have; we may find they desire the control over the general population they project onto Donald J. Trump. So, please spare us the psycho-babble/pop psychology and incessant whining and attempts at discrediting a political philosophy by using the so-called science of psychiatry...despicable. :-p
