Here is a timely tale of a mouse who thinks he's a lot braver and better than anyone around him. Undaunted by extreme heights, wild animals, or angry birds, this mouse is determined to conquer every obstacle in his path. He climbs, dives, and does all that he can to prove how brave he is. "I am the mountain mouse!" he shouts when he summits his first not-quite-mountain. And this is usually the warning for his minions to take cover... because what they see and what Mountain Mouse sees are never quite the same!

I Am the Mountain Mouse includes four short stories about an entitled little white mouse, who believes itself to be king of the mountain, and its three followers, who often end up taking the short end of the stick. This mouse likes to think of itself as brave, but bravery is when you recognize danger, and face it anyways. This character either does not see it, or doesn't care; it is reckless, and arrogant. It even feels like the queen bee of the popular kids, while the three others are the hangers on. Because these personalty types will match the experiences of some kids it validates the need for this book, however, it doesn't make the characters any more likeable to those who see problems with such lifestyles. Most young readers will probably just find the antics of these critters funny. Their round eyes, and furry bodies convey their feelings, and do distinguish each a bit from the others. The book is similar to a graphic novel in that it uses panels, and word balloons. Only a few are on each page, so young readers will have no problem following along. Like the last page says "The(re is no) end", you can easily create more stories using the structure that is laid out.
