The Eighth Story. Nineteen Years Later.

Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne, and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage.  The play will receive its world premiere in London's West End on July 30, 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted.  As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Fun for Harry Potter fans

This play is kinda messed up, although I enjoyed parts of it.

It's a play, it's written as a play, it is not a sequel book - do not confuse it for one. I'm serious, that was one of the number one complaints about this book, and it's not a fair one - cause it's clearly written in the description that it's a play script. It is my dream to be able to go see it on Broadway one day - and it was fascinating to find out the kind of people Harry, Hermione, and Ron had become - but it was also kind of sad. Adulting is hard. This play doesn't shy away from that - and being a son of a legend is also hard.

I loved the Harry Potter series but I really disliked this book. I didn't feel the same feeling as when I read the books. Harry and his son faught all the time, and it was exhausting. It was also very confusing. I did NOT enjoy it.

This book was fairly good, but I did not like it as much as the original seven. One of the reasons for this is the characters. These characters do not grow on you like Harry, Ron, Hermione and countless others do. They expect characters like Lily to be lovable, but really, you only see her in a few scenes. The book itself is a confusing, hard-to-read playscript, which makes you fell like, " Hey, this is a playscript, why not wait for the actual play." Overall, my rating would be a lot lower if it were not for the actual story part of the 'book'.

I don't really like this book from all the seven because I don't like that it's more like of a script than a book it's feels like to me that I have only pieces of paper in my hand than more like a cover an pages I think this book can be better.

Wow. This book is a bit different then the other Harry Potter books, but it is just what I needed. I read this just after finishing the series, and I was amazed. It opened up new theories to ponder on. I hope they make it a movie!

didnt really like this book, not at all like the other 7 books that J.K. Rowling wrote. In this book Harrys all cranky and stuff, I dont really reccomend it

Prior to reading this I had heard practically nothing but bad reviews. Plot holes, characters that don't hold true to their past, and a format that is challenging to follow along to. While I have to agree with many of the criticisms, it didn't stop me from devouring this book.

We got to go back to Hogwarts. We saw our beloved characters again, and some new ones. We got some 'what if' scenarios that were sometimes extremely amusing. If you can manage to throw away judgement and ignore the many plot holes, you can squeeze just a little more love out of the Harry Potter world with this book.

GINNY: After I came out of hospital - everyone ignored me, shut me out - other than, that is, the boy who had everything - who came across the Gryffindor common room and challenged me to a game of Exploding Snap. People think they know all there is to know about you, but the best bits of you are - have always been - heroic in really quiet ways. My point is - after this is over, just remember if you could that sometimes people - but particularly children - just want someone to play Exploding Snap with.

HARRY: You think that's what we're missing - Exploding Snap?

GINNY: No. But the love I felt from you that day - I'm not sure Albus feels that.

HARRY: I'd do anything for him.

GINNY: Harry, you'd do anything for anybody. You were pretty happy to sacrifice yourself for the world. He needs to feel specific love. It'll make him stronger, and you stronger too.
