The Lumineers' sophomore work "Cleopatra" is a wonderful follow up to the indie hits of their self titled album. With a more sophisticated tone and solidified ambiance, Cleopatra pulls the listener into a vague tale rife with imagery and characters of a time past. Equal parts nostalgic and somber, the atmosphere created is thick and encompassing. Listening to Cleopatra is like exploring a dusty album full of relics, with just enough of a story line to make you wonder. The perfect rainy day listen or road trip companion. My favorite tracks were “Sleep on the Floor” and “Angela” although it’s hard to pick from a such a solid line-up.
This album has a very indie rock feel and was released in 2016 by Dualtone Records. I really like this band because the lead singer has an unique voice and the instrumentals always perfectly fit along with the lyrics, almost painting a picture in your mind. My favourite songs off of this album are Sleep On The Floor, Ophelia, and Cleopatra. I personally really like the storyline of Sleep On The Floor because it tells the truth about what you would do to be with the person that you love. I know that their music style isn’t for everyone, but I would personally rate this album 4.5/5 stars.

The album Cleopatra by The Lumineers is an actual work of art. Every song is a masterpiece. The musical and lyrical talent of this band is exceptional and hard to come by nowadays. The lyrics are so well-written and they tell an extremely emotional and amazing story while still being something that you’ll find yourself singing along to. The songs “Ophelia,” “Cleopatra,” and “Angela” are some of my top favourites although they are all fantastic. Many of the songs from this album have consistently been played on the radio which might make them sound familiar. 5/5 stars for sure.

The American Mumford & Sons!
Kind of a bland sophomore effort - connected more with their first album (Favs: Sleep On the Floor, Sick In the Head)
