"The serial plays out at the legendary manor Grønnegaard, southern Funen, where the internationally renowned artist Veronika Grønnegaard has lived an eccentric and colorful life since the wild sixties. The serial follows Veronika's four adult children whose free and chaotic childhood at Grønnegaard has left its mark on them in very different ways. They live scattered to the four winds until Veronika dies and they gather to wind up the estate. Just before she dies, Veronika leaves the manor to her daughter Signe, who was given up for adoption. Signe lives with her partner in a quiet residential area in the local town..."--The Legacy, DR website, quoted on IMDb.

A compelling family drama about a young woman who is given a deathbed will from her birth mother, a woman she has never know. This new will upsets the lives of the woman's other children and begins the unpeeling of the secrets, lies and deceit that they have all hidden.

Danish noir, this time about the children of an artist, each one of which is horrible in a different way.

Interesting take on family dysfunction and dynamics of the artworld. Lots of melodrama encourages watching all 4 discs, however, the "end" was disconcerting, it seems unresolved with many threads of relationship dangling.

Hmmm. Subtitles flit by a bit fast for me. Reminded me of US night soaps, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Dallas, etc. Artist dies, children squabble over inheritance. I got hooked but skipped the 3rd disc when I grew tired of the melodrama filled with a different culture's take on sex, drugs, language, music, fashion, greed. Beautiful women, not so beautiful men. As for 'art' it's definitely in the eyes of the beholder & a matter of taste. I like Borgen better. Maybe one nedds to be more understanding of the Danes.
