Although its the longest of the edge.org question of the year books I have yet read, it is the least diverse in its contributors' ideas. I was most intrigued by an essay about what would occur if a self-aware AI claimed rights - what rights would they be? how to gauge competing rights claims between an AI and a real person? between two AIs? Another was about the attribution of responsibility for quasi-autonomous AI: would the programmers or owners (or no one) go to gaol?
