This was a so-so film about the notorious drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. you might be better off watching a documentary about the subject.

This would have been a better movie if it had been edited sequentially- the moving back and forth doesn't work very well. Good performance by Del Toro as Escobar.

Overall, "Escobar" was a good film; however, it had the potential to be much better if there was more character development, especially of Pablo himself, as well as Nico.

Worth watching. Escobar portrayed as the murderous thug he proved to be.

Not as strong as "Sicario" or "Savages" but pretty close to those films.

Die in Hell, drug dealers.

Interesting thriller about the home life of the legendary Escobar and bloody Colombian drug politics based on the unique experience of a Canadian surfer after he was engaged to the drug lord's niece.

Escobar, near the beginning of the film: Well... I've made a deal with the government. Tomorrow, I'll surrender to the authorities. I'll be in jail... for a while. Till things get quiet again. I've called you all in person because I need the help... of the people I trust the most. Our job is to hide our economic power from our enemies. And this treasure is the life and the future of our families and children. And we'll be the only ones to know
where it's hidden.
Escobar read to his daughter: "When Mowgli stopped to rest, a happy bear wandered over, named Baloo. Baloo figured that the elephant had much to learn..."
Nick: How did he make all his money?
Maria: Cocaine. People here in Colombia have been chewing coca leaves since the beginning of time. Pablo is just exporting a national product. Most of the money he makes goes to the poor. You go to any of the barrios
and ask the people there: they love him.
