Fledgling vampire Sarah Dearly knew what she was getting into when she married master vampire Thierry de Bennicoeur. As an agent of the Ring, Thierry is sent all over the world to solve vampire crimes and keep them secret from humans. And now Sarah's on the job with him--for better or worse.

Right after their wedding in Las Vegas, Sarah and Thierry get their next assignment: Three vampires have gone missing in Salem, Massachusetts, and they need to find out why. Their contact in Salem turns out to be a local lothario with a penchant for witches, but before he can help them, he suddenly goes up in smoke--leaving behind nothing but a stain on the ground and a seemingly impossible mystery.

Did a witchy ex-mistress cast a deadly spell, or is there something even more sinister happening to the vampires of Salem? Getting to the truth may require raising the undead, with a little help from the owners of a vampire-friendly bed and breakfast. But uncovering Salem's darkest secrets may drag some of Thierry's own past into the light.

The scale is 1-5. One being low and five being high.

Cliché: I don’t need to really explain this one…was it a typical story that followed very similar storylines that many authors over use? 1 out of 5---> Not cliché. The way this story was written took me on a roller coaster of emotions that I have never ridden on before.

Humor Me: How funny was the story? The dialog between the characters? 4 out of 5--->Oh, this story did not lack humor. Between the dark soul of Thierry and the womanly sass Sarah brings equals out to many giggles!

Sizzle & Burn: How romantic was the story? And it is also the scale of how steamy things get between the characters that fall in love. 3.5 out of 5---->This read was a very slow burn, but it is not steamy as in a lot of sexual scenes. This would be another good example of the type of romance I enjoy as in too much romance can suffocate a story.

Called It!: This one is about the mystery behind the crime, situation, or hardship that is going on in the story. Did the author surprise me or did I know who the bad guy/antagonist was all along? 2 out of 5--->I don't want to give too much away. I will just tell you that the first situation introduced seemed really easy to go along yet a bit bland. But! The author added the second situation that thicken the plot and made it into a story I could not put down until I learned who did what and why. I was wonderfully surprised!

Exciting Extras: Did I fall in love with the background characters? How badly did I want to learn or hear more about the story of the main characters friend(s) or family member(s)? 3.5 out of 5----> Normally, in the last book, I didn't really connect with any extras because the writer didn't introduce any background characters that I would want to read more about. The first book only had the bad guys and the little girl and her caretaker. This book though is a whole other ball park! I would love to learn more about Heather and Todd (how they found their happiness).

What! It’s Over!: This one is rating how badly I want to read the next book in the series. 5 out of 5----> Oh, yes, my journey into this wondrous story is not over. Can't wait to read the next installment.

A most enjoyable read, I can't wait
to read the before books of the series. She writes along the vein of MaryJanice Davidson, most readable.
