I didn’t like the first one in this series, Bleu. This was way better but still nothing great. Nothing wrong with the acting, just the overall story is pretty lame. Also, the quality of the DVD is very poor at times, very grainy. Like the first one, give this a pass.

The second part of the Trois Couleurs trilogy, Blanc (or White) centers on the theme of egalité, or equality, as it relates to a Polish man and his French ex-wife. The film is almost entirely set in Poland where the theme of equality also is prevalent in the extreme economic differences between Poland and France. After the intense, mournful melancholy of Bleu (or Blue), the first part of the trilogy, I found White to be quite humorous at times, playful, and sensual. It's a bit less self-important than Bleu, but nonetheless, just as moving and gorgeously shot.
