The documentary about the ailing-yet-ferocious Ginger Baker, the brilliant and wildly self-destructive drummer for Cream and Blind Faith. An almost impossible man to be around, he allows the director unprecedented access--even if he strikes him violently on the nose with his cane on the final day of filming.

Really almost a perfect documentary. Will make you want to go back and appraise the Ginger Baker discography, particularly the bands that he performed in prior to Cream -- Alexis Korner Blues Incorporated and Graham Bond Organisation. After seeing the film I promptly acquired the GINGER BAKER'S AIR FORCE album (he did two, both in 1970), which was his jam band proto-world music project that he occupied himself with after Clapton pulled the plug on Blind Faith. Then it is on to Lagos and jamming with Fela.

A great story told greatly. Entertaining with chuckles and 'gee I didn't know that" throughout.

Interesting (and surprising) life.

Free of the hagiographic overtones that dog many documentary profiles, Beware of Mr. Baker presents a clear-eyed, thoroughly gripping look at one of rock's greatest -- and most personally problematic -- musicians.
