From Library Staff

Too beautiful not to include, although it's matchboxes, not postcards, that take you through the story. These matchboxes tell a little girl about her great-grandfather's life.

This is a truly beautiful book. Moving, inspiring story, and gorgeous illustrations. A diary can be more than words. My favourites were the empty box, and the sunflower seed husks. Children and adults will love this!

The story of a boy who resourcefully collects items and stores them in matchboxes as a makeshift diary since he doesn't know how to write is captivating. The illustrations are first-rate and complement the words in a magnificent way.
