This year the August heat wave in Florence is fiercer than usual, and the city's inhabitants have fled to the hills and beaches. So amidst the shrubbery of a normally busy roundabout, a corpse lies bloating unnoticed. PI Sandro Cellini has not joined the holidaymakers. He has a case: a man has vanished, leaving his pregnant wife alone in the city. As Florence sweats it out, Cellini grapples with the case. And when the weather breaks, it brings a shocking revelation.

An excellent book and series! See my comments for Darkness Descending. This is the first book in the series and introduces the very endearing and real characters. You will be hooked. After reading the fourth book, I feel that I personally know them. Author is literate, writing style and plots are enjoyable, setting is unusual - Florence - and author describes and knows it well. I highly recommend the book and series.
