The Minnesota Twins 1987 World Series

Game 4, Cardinals Vs Twins

Rate this:
The 1987 World Series inaugurated the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in fine style, and in their first Series win, the Twins triumph over the St. Louis Cardinals extended through all seven games. The core of the team was manager Tom Kelly, whose calm was contagious, with a lineup powered by a hard-hitting Kirby Puckett, Kent Hrbek, Gary Gaetti, and Tom Brunansky; starting ace Frank Viola, supplemented by the likes of Bert Blyleven, Jeff Reardon, and Juan Berenguer; and of course the Homer Hanky-wielding fans turning the Metrodome into a house of horrors for opposing teams. It was the first World Series played in an indoor stadium, and where the home team won every home game. The Twins rode an unmatched home field advantage to the top in an exciting, well played Series.
