I only rated this lower because it seemed more brutal than the other novels in the series. All the audio books are great listens. I think it needed a better ending.
Book 5 of the League series, preceded by Born of Shadows and followed by Cloak and Silence. Story of a very, very tortured hero - Darling (aka Kere) and Zarya, the resistance leader who mistakenly doesn't realize that Darling was captured and tortured by her own men. It was hard to get into the story and even though it had a good ending, it left me feeling sad for Darling and for the betrayal he had to endure. Darling's tortured hero was at par with Acheron and Styxx, and it was too much. I am glad I read the story but only because now I can move on to the next "heros"
How my heart tore for Kere/Darling. I wanted to climb inside this novel with my own blaster and KILL,KILL,KILL! *sigh* Zarya? I liked her, but got sick of her too. The love scenes? Oh YEAAAAAA. I'd take darling home in less than 1/2 a heartbeat! hehehe Another awesome novel by my favourite authour.
Zarya & Darling's
This may be my favorite League novel yet. Great characters as always. It's a big book but it reads quick. It made me want to re-read all of this series from the beginning again.
Wow Kenyon really knows how to torture a person and feel their agony. Don't get on her bad side. As always a great story.
