Based on the life story of Latif Yahia. Summoned to Saddam Hussein's palace, Iraqi army lieutenant Yahia is thrust into the highest echelons of the 'royal family' when he's ordered to become the body double to Saddam's son, the notorious 'Black Prince' Uday Hussein, a reckless, sadistic, party-boy with a rabid hunger for sex and brutality. With his and his family's lives at stake, Latif must surrender his former self forever. But nothing could have prepared him for the horror of the Black Prince's psychotic, drug-addled life.

Amazing. I knew this guy was a nut case (Uday)), but had no idea how much of a nut case he really was. Great acting by the lead in the double role. Good use of real news footage.

I am just amazed at the high ratings and complimentary comments about this movie. It is utter rubbish!

Really fine work by Dominic Cooper in the dual role; this is probably as close as we're going to get to the horror of Sadam Hussein's tyranny. *
The director's commentary is recommended.

this film should be shown to people who do not understand why the people of Iraq are so depressed. much is hard to watch and believe but is said to be 90% based on facts.

Surprisingly well made and extremely interesting account of one sick man wielding power and dominance over a good man. One cannot watch this without developing empathy for Latif and condemnation for the evil and hedonistic Uday. Highly recommended.

Uday Hussein, son of Saddam Hussein, was a very violent, cruel, and some say psychotic person. The story of this film is based upon books written by Latif Yahia, who claims he was a double for Uday. Some experts suggest that Yahia has fabricated the events in order to make a profit. Some events in the film are almost certainly not true. The film is quite good and reminds me of “Scarface” with Al Pacino.

Based on the true life story of Latif Yahia, The Devil's Double recounts Latif's experience as a body double for Uday Hussein, the son of Saddam Hussein. Latif was plucked from the army during the Iran/Iraq war and was brought into the Hussein family inner circle as a "third son" and body double. Uday was considered a pychopath as he partied, took drugs, had sex with whomever he wanted as well as tortured and killed innocent Iraqis. Latif was held against his will by threats against his family but eventually he was able to escape from Iraq. Be prepared for some gruesome scenes but keep in mind that the real Uday Hussein was even more heinous than how he is depicted in this movie.

Terrific movie. I was pleasantly surprised and entertained. Loved the locales of Malta and Amman and Aqaba, Jordan. Dominic Cooper plays both roles. Well done!
