Coarse Language: F-word used multiple times, swearing is present in every chapter. This book is not for younger readers.

100101_2827637 Jan 08, 2012

Frightening or Intense Scenes: A number of characters are killed, shot at, fought against, ect. Nothing nightmare worthy, but it can be slightly frightening and nerve-racking for younger readers.

Sexual Content: Nothing graphic: the main character sleeps with a long time boyfriend for the first time. Moderate sexual discussions are present and shape-shifting requires the person to be naked.

I luved Other, it's one of my favorite books. I luved all the characters, especially Gewn. Her humor is witty and she excepts that she's other

I'm glad I finally read Other, although it took a few chapters to get into it. I liked how Kincy really explores both sides of Gwen, her human and pooka side and deals with real issues that real girls go through which makes her relatable but at the same time you get the fantasy aspect of shapeshifting and how that molds Gwen into who she is. Tavian is of course totally swoonworthy so I hope that we get more backstory in book 2 about him. Also loved the setting in Washington State since I live in Seattle, always interesting to read books set in places you are familiar with. I think Other was a great introduction to Kincy's "other" world and I think that the next two books are going to be even better! can't wait!

One of the best books I've read in a while! I loved the characters voice and snarkiness, along with her emotion and strong-will. Gwenhwyfar (but she just goes by Gwen) Williams is a half-Pooka; a Welsh, shape-shifting beast known for causing mischief. Gwen and the other assorted supernatural beasts, known as Others, have revealed their existence to the world after millennia of keeping secret. While most of the world respects and honers the Others' rights, Gwen's small-town sometimes 'forgets' the laws and treats them badly. But when a number of Others start to turn up dead, often with stereo-typical traits nearby (Examples: water sprites are found dead in a pond, a leprechaun is dressed in green, found holding a bottle of whiskey, and surrounded by gold coins) Gwen starts to think that someone is targeting Others like herself. Typically, when a book where a 'lesser' minority is persecuted, it's often filled with anti-racial propaganda. That is happily not one of the major themes of the book. This book is a love story (but not too lovey-dovey, which is rather nice) and a murder mystery. I didn't have a reasonable guess to who the real murderer was until nearly three-fourths to the end! Over all, a great and quick read...I'm defiantly reading the next book in the series!
