This is a 240-minute documentary about a century of fight and flight produced in 2005 for Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).
This DVD consists of 4 episodes: 1) Airplane to Air Force 2) Air Force to Air Power 3) Jet Power (Jet Age) 4) The Spy (Age of Stealth) ||||||
In the 100 years since Wright brothers first took to the air,
the airplane has evolved into the ultimate weapon such as a B2 Stealth Bomber featuring low observable stealth technology designed for penetrating dense anti-aircraft defenses.
The B-2 is capable of all-altitude attack missions up to 50,000 ft, with a range of more than 6,000 nautical miles unrefuelled and
over 10,000 nautical miles with one refueling. Though originally designed primarily as a nuclear bomber, it was first used in combat to
drop conventional bombs on Serbia during the Kosovo War in 1999, and saw continued use during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The role of airplane in warfare has grown dramatically through two great world wars.
The bad thing is this ultimate weapon killed millions of people while the good thing is that we benifits from the jet travel age.
