A charming fairytale about a "village idiot" who is not as idiotic as most of the other people in his village, who believe in witchcraft, and stand by as the parish priest accuses him of urinating in his bottle of milk, and of setting the church on fire. It is worthwhile to view this movie in tandem with the much darker (and more realistic) film, "Aurore."

Babine is an interesting fable coupling benevolent witchcraft with austere Catholicism.
Made in Quebec, it's a good little flick.
