Hitler opposed smoking, which has killed more people than Hitler did. German scientists established the connection of smoking to cancer. The Nazi government warned against the dangers of smoking, especially for pregnant women, and managed to suppress it in some circumstances. Meanwhile in tobacco-growing America, smoking was heavily promoted and continued to be for many years.
