We Spent A Week Cooking Recipes From This Book For Our Cookbook Blog. Read About Our Results Below!
Let's face it - who doesn't love a good sandwich? This was a very early addition to our cookbook collection and has received a lot of use throughout the years. It's an exhaustive exercise on the possibilities of what you can create in handheld form - from desserts to breakfast. Here are the items we made:
• Peanut Butter Cream’wiches - A perfect snack for dessert or breakfast! The texture gets an assist from the oats in the recipe.
• Goat Cheese with Avocado, Celery, Walnut Pesto, and Watercress - This was so good! However, picking watercress is so tedious, am I right? It's worth the effort - as the watercress adds some notes of pepper to the mix. Combined with the brightness of the lemon juice, the crunch of the celery and the creaminess of the avocado - you have a winning sandwich that's a perfect meal for Summer. Light yet fulfilling!
• Roasted Asparagus with Red Onions, Basil, and Vacherin - We’re obsessed with the super skinny, tender asparagus available in the Spring. This dish is a perfect showcase for them. Toast - before toasts were a thing.

The recipe for the Red Wine Braised Flank steak is great! It's a lot of effort for just a sandwich so I doubled the ingredients and just used the meat as part of a meal.

A bit too 'hoity toity' for me I'm afraid...I was expecting unusual combinations but failed to find one that even sounded good enough to try. Octopus or pumpkin puree on a sandwich?!! Might be for hard-core foodies but not for the average palette.
