Kyon is your ordinary high school freshman who has long given up on his childhood dreams of encountering the fantastic and supernatural...or so he thought. From the very first day of school, his classmate-the beautiful but eccentric Haruhi Suzumiya-makes it very clear that her only desire is to meet aliens, time travelers, and psychics! A chance conversation between the two inspires Haruhi to form the SOS Brigade, a school club created for the sole purpose of gathering together such supernatural beings. The initial members consist of the mute bookworm Yuki Nagato, the timid but voluptuous Miharu Asahina, and the polite and ever-smiling Itsuki Koizumi. By the end of this first volume, Kyon quickly finds out that these seemingly "helpless victims" of Haruhi's are actually members of secret organizations-both futuristic and alien-with the single aim of keeping watch over Haruhi Suzumiya as she is the pinnacle of some major calamity on the horizon...

This book is so fun. Haruhi is so crazy and that's what I love about her.

This is the first light novel that I have fully read. I usually read a lot of manga and decided to try out light novels. The novel is very fun, and over the top and never seems to get boring in anyway or shape.

This is the first light novel. Not sure why the picture shows the cover of the second volume of the manga.

I really enjoy this "BOOK OF RANDOMNESS". It's seriously funny, and enjoyable. Easy to pick up and read too. But what's strange is the picture above....this is one book, yet a book two picture is up above.

I really enjoyed reading this; it's funny and interesting, and because it's not from Haruhi's point of view, but from a boy in her class', it has an interesting spin to it.

It took awhile for this to get going, and I don't know why I kept reading, but I ended up liking it and will give the next in the series a try. This series was popular enough to spin off a manga and an anime.

This is an AWESOME book for any anime know-at-all out their. This book has all action, laughs, and weirdos that you can't even predict is going on in the story. If you don't like then it's not worth calling yourself a pro.
