Bellefontaine’s Mausoleums I

7:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Central Library

Description

For over 100 families at Bellefontaine Cemetery, a final resting place is a mini-mansion. For the Wainwrights, their mausoleum becomes a study in design and imagery. Louis Sullivan was the architect of the Wainwright’s Mausoleum (a.k.a. as the Taj Mahal of St. Louis). Some believe he designed perfection in the Wainwright. Join us for an insightful presentation by Dan Fuller, a Master Guide and Volunteer Coordinator at Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum, which will look at the Wainwright and other mini-mansions and explore the style of the mausoleum and interesting details of the lives of those who built these structures.
