Class #1: Basic Shot Structure and the Conveying a Story via Visual Cues

The Film Camp will run for five weeks from February 23 to March 23, meeting Saturdays 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The camp will consist of 5 three-hour sessions held in Meeting Room 2.4 exploring the art of filmmaking through the production of mini-films.

Participants will use laptops and smartphones to create and edit videos. Throughout the workshop, participants will learn how to construct a simple storyline and how to visualize this story through the examination of cinematography practices and various editing techniques.

At the end of the workshop, participants will have the means to complete a video. They will have successfully used video cameras and editing software to achieve this outcome. Ultimately, the biggest outcome will be the participant's ability to synthesize complex ideas and thoughts into a simple narrative.
